Alteeve Wiki :: Single points of failure |
The term "Single Point of Failure" is used whe discussing high availability concerns. Specifically, a single point of failure is any point in a redundant system where, should that component fail, all services being provided fail.
For example, if the two nodes in a 2-node cluster use the same UPS, then that UPS is a single point of failure in that cluster because, should the UPS fail, both nodes will power down.
When building redundant systems, it is ideal to have no single points of failure in the system.
