Integrated Development Environment
AN!Wiki :: Integrated Development Environment |
In software development, an IDE is a program that facilitates the development of source code. These programs can be little more that text editors with syntax highlighting, making it easier for the programmer to read their code. At the opposite end of the spectrum, an IDE can include terminals, generate flow charts and provide other complex tools to help the developer keep track of references in large projects.
A popular open source IDE is kate, written as part of the KDE user interface on Linux operating systems.
